Father, daughter die at Canyonlands National Park after running out of water in 100-degree heat

The tragedy marks the latest deaths this summer at National Parks in the West, including at Grand Canyon and Death Valley national parks. A record heat wave has claimed dozens of lives in Arizona, California, Utah, and Oregon.

DC region faces dangerous heat Monday as temperatures soar to 100 degrees

The entire Washington, D.C. region is blanketed under excessive heat watches and warnings Monday as dangerously hot temperatures rise to 100 degrees or above.

It's a very hot day ahead that we'll have and the beginning of close to and hitting 100 degrees for daytime highs. Add to that the increase in humidity and the "feel like" temps will make it dangerous to spend extended time outside. Extreme heat is also on the way for Monday and Tuesday with temperatures looking to reach up to 101 degrees.

DC weather: Extended Heat Emergency issued through the weekend

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced an Extended Heat Emergency from from Saturday, July 13 through Wednesday, July 17.
