Plenty of sunshine with clear skies and highs in the mid-80s on Friday as the summer feel begins to return to the Washington, D.C. region this weekend following a week of mild and pleasant temperatures.

A Connecticut house collapsed on Monday following a weekend of historic and unprecedented flash flooding.

Firefighters safely rescued 19 people and a dog from raging floodwaters Sunday evening in southwestern Connecticut during a flood emergency.

Showers are likely on Monday, with a chance of thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The day will be partly sunny with a high near 83 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 70%.

There’s a chance for severe weather today. The main threat will be gusty wins small hail and isolated flooding. A severe thunderstorm watches in effect until 10 PM this evening. Thunderstorms may be capable of producing rainfall amounts between one to 2 inches an hour. There’s also a flood watch in effect until 10pm Sunday. Excessive rainfall may result in flooding of rivers creeks and low lying areas. Tune to Fox 5 for the latest. 

The Storm Prediction Center warned of winds up to 70 mph and hail at least the size of ping pong balls.

At least two deaths in South Carolina have been attributed to the powerful rip currents that developed because of Ernesto.

Onlookers can be heard screaming and repeating, "Oh my god!" as the whole house drifts into the Atlantic Ocean.

Beaches from Florida to Maine are expecting an increase in rip currents and surf that could make ocean ventures dangerous through the weekend.
