Salute to Service: Honoring Army Col. Michael Greenly

FOX5 is honoring heroes in our community in our weekly Salute to Service segment. This week’s nominee is Colonel Michael Greenly of Clifton, Virginia. He served in the Army as a nurse for 37 years. Sadly, he passed away in March of 2021 while in the line of duty.

Honoring Army Veteran David Kim

This week’s nominee is the founder of a DC nonprofit and is being recognized for his service to military families suffering from tragedy. Army veteran David Kim founded Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation in 2002 – in honor of a fellow artillery officer who was killed overseas, leaving behind a young daughter. Since then, the organization has provided full-ride scholarships to more than 24-hundred students across the country who have lost a parent in the line of duty. That’s accumulated to more than 55 million dollars in support of gold star children.

FOX5 is committed to honoring heroes in our community in our weekly segment, Salute to Service. This week’s nominee is Travis Horr of Washington, D.C. Travis served in the Marine Corps Infantry, and was stationed at the historic Marine Barracks, “8th and I” in D.C., as well as Camp Pendleton.

Travis served in the Marine Corps Infantry, and was stationed at the historic Marine Barracks, “8th and I” in D.C., as well as Camp Pendleton. He served one tour in Afghanistan and graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor’s in Political Science all thanks to the post 9/11 GI Bill.
