Firefighters in Bethesda on Thursday rescued a woman and two children who got caught in flash flooding, as well as three others.

As severe weather gripped the D.C. region, tragedy struck in Mt. Airy Thursday night. A 13-year-old boy died after being swept into a storm drain. 

Another round of severe storms blew through the D.C. region on Thursday, bringing down trees and power lines, and causing severe flooding. 

Flash Flood Warnings and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect on Thursday as severe weather, thunderstorms and flooding concerns threaten the Washington, D.C. region.

A Heat Advisory and Code Orange Air Quality Alert are in effect Wednesday for the Washington, D.C. metro area as temperatures approach 98 degrees and the heat index climbs near 105.
