At least 37 people have died after the worst flooding in Kentucky’s history, and flooding remains a threat with more thunderstorms in the forecast this week.

The White House is making more than $1 billion available to states to address flooding and extreme heat exacerbated by climate change.

The weather could impact recovery efforts this week as forecasters say there is severe storm potential Monday in many of the flood-ravaged areas in Kentucky, and that will be followed by a dangerous heat wave.
