The Washington, D.C., region began with a chilly start Thursday as rain and gusty winds are expected to move into the area later this evening.

With the holiday just a week away, and snow still lingering on the ground in some suburbs, many are wondering if the December trend will continue and we'll wake up to a White Christmas in D.C. 

The Washington, D.C. region is waking up to bone chilling cold conditions Tuesday, with temperatures starting out in the teens and 20s across much of the region. The cold will stay through the morning before a modest warmup pushes afternoon highs to around 40 degrees.

Warmer air is settling into the Washington region, bringing the most comfortable stretch of the month so far. FOX 5’s Taylor Grenda says temperatures will climb into the 50s over the next few days.
