Fairfax Co. police investigate stabbing death in Alexandria

Detectives in Fairfax County are investigating the stabbing death of an Alexandria man after they discovered his body Friday night on Fairchild Drive.

Investigators made the discovery just after 11 p.m. when they were on a routine patrol of the Meadow Woods apartments near U.S. 1. It was unclear how long the body of 24-year-old Luis Ernesto Bonilla had been in the woods near the complex.

Police say they searched the area using police dogs and a helicopter, but did not find any suspects or witnesses.

Elmer Bonilla told FOX 5 his brother was a father to to young children and was supposed to turn 25 next month. Bonilla described his brother as a goofy and a "great guy."

Bonilla said his family was not aware of any enemies Luis had. They told FOX 5 Luis was spotted earlier in the night at a nearby 7 Eleven with two unknown men. It's not clear if those men played a role in Luis Bonilla's death.

"I just want justice to be served I want these people in jail I want them to know what they did and how sickening it is," said Elmer Bonilla.

Police are asking for the public's help to solve this case.
