Broadcast Stagehand (Per Diem Part-Time)

FOX 5 TV, Washington DC's #1 news station with the most hours of local news, is looking for a per diem Stagehand to assist with behind-the-scenes projects for the news broadcast studios. The Stagehand will be responsible for handling property and scenery used for live television. This includes the maintenance, repair, placement and operation of studio scenes, structures, and lighting. Must be competent in the use of hand tools and power tools. Will work in a fast-paced environment. May have to travel between locations and may be required to deliver and pickup materials offsite as needed. HS Diploma (or equivalent) required. 2-4 year college/technical degree preferred. Minimum 3 years recent experience. Candidates must have experience managing news personnel to include assignment editors, writers, producers, editors, anchors, reporters, and digital staff. Executive producers are responsible for recruiting and interviewing, managing the daily affairs of the team and cultivating a productive and supported work environment. Must be able to produce timely and compelling newscasts that are editorially and visually dynamic to include content in the field and news specials. Strong communication skills. Ability to develop and assemble content on multiple platforms. Must have strong knowledge of social media and be able to incorporate and showcase content from multiple platforms into newscasts. News Writer/Producer (Regular Full-Time)

What will you do once you are here? News Photographer (Regular Full-Time)

Must have thorough knowledge of digital camera and editing equipment. The Studio Technician / Technical Director will fill a variety of production roles and help prep material for our newscasts. The ideal candidate should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, live production control room and studio. The Studio Technician will perform functions including, but not limited to, technical director, audio operator, robotic camera, and/or floor director. Solid understanding of live production environments, specifically news production, is required. Experience with automated control room environments is a plus. The Senior Digital Content Producer is skilled at working within strict deadlines to develop multimedia digital content that delivers measurable results. You will supervise daily news coverage and evolve ideas across all digital platforms. Responsible for overseeing all daily editorial decisions and presentation of content on web, mobile, and social platforms. Assist web producers with creating and publishing text stories, video, photos, streaming of newscasts, breaking news and live news events whenever necessary. Ensure efficient delivery of breaking news content across all digital platforms in real-time. Facilitate gathering of compelling, timely digital content using information from various sources and contacts. Participate in news editorial meetings, working with news managers to integrate broadcast and digital content across all platforms. Oversee the station's social media strategy, including promotion of overall brand and talent. Continuously evaluate all digital and social content, tracking success and outlining future opportunities for improvement. Constantly monitor digital and social analytics, using data to drive content decisions and create an optimal experience for the user. Communicate trends as they develop to the digital team and newsroom. Develop and maintain special coverage sections and platform-specific content, both for planned events and breaking news. Maintain digital editorial calendar. Collaborate with sales and promotions to create advertising or other promotional content as needed. Constantly update staff on best practices for digital publishing and overall digital and social strategies. Qualifications:

Superior writing skills and news judgement. Advanced knowledge of content management systems, social media platforms, live streaming, digital analytics tools and emerging digital technologies. Working knowledge of HTML, video editing and photo editing software. Experience publishing and maintaining podcasts a plus.
