The seventh heat wave of the summer is set to hit the DMV, with "feel-like" temps forecasted to reach triple digits through Wednesday.

The aptly named "dog days of summer" are upon us. It’s the time of years when the brightest start in the night sky, Sirius, commonly referred to as the Dog Star, starts to brighten the morning sky across the Northern Hemisphere.

As we finish up the work week we expect another day with plenty of humidity and warm temperatures in the upper 80s.

Meteorologists say July was the hottest month measured on Earth since records began in 1880.

We're in the dog days of summer and our warm, humid and unsettled pattern continues into Thursday. Expect a mix of sun and clouds with high humidity and temperatures that will peak in the mid-to-upper 80s this afternoon.

We’ll see more sunshine today compared to Tuesday, along with high humidity, which will persist through the weekend.

We’re in for a cloudy day in the D.C. area on Tuesday, with scattered showers arriving around lunchtime and the threat of stronger storms arriving late in the afternoon and evening.

We’ll have mostly sunny skies in the DMV today – with heat and humidity returning to the area this afternoon.

Plenty of sunshine and dry conditions are in the forecast for Sunday.
