Smith says working with the special-needs community is more than a one-day event — it’s his passion, and he plans to continue that work in college. Smith is a McDonald’s All-American and is preparing to help lead Paul VI in its push for a WCAC championship, while keeping a message from his parents at the center of it all: life is bigger than basketball.

D.C. police say they have identified the dumpster truck driver accused of hitting and killing a person on an e-bike in Northwest D.C. and then fleeing the scene. Investigators also corrected earlier information, saying the person who died was a man. The crash happened near Upshur Street and Georgia Avenue NW.
