Video shows the elevator arriving at his floor and the doors opening before the car suddenly moves, trapping him. TMZ reports the man suffered internal injuries. The building’s property manager said there had been prior complaints about the elevator before the incident. Repairs are now underway. The frightening moment has sparked renewed concerns about elevator safety.

Fairfax County’s commonwealth’s attorney is under scrutiny after a judge declined to find probable cause in a homicide case, leading to a second-degree murder charge being dropped against 31-year-old Helena Little. Officials say Little was arrested after police found the victim with stab wounds in her Herndon-area home; she was later released when a judge ruled the evidence insufficient to move forward. Early voting has begun in Virginia for a special election on a constitutional amendment that would let the state legislature redraw congressional maps.
