Authorities say a young boy drowned in the Anacostia River Thursday night. Police were called to Anacostia Park along Anacostia Drive just before 6:30 p.m., where they found the 5 year old unconscious. Good Samaritans had pulled him from the water before first responders arrived. EMS began lifesaving efforts at the scene and rushed him to the hospital. He did not survive.
