Suspect steals jewelry worth $150K from JCPenney store at Wheaton mall

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County Police are looking for a man who broke into a store in Silver Spring and stole $150,000 in jewelry.

The department said in a news release that early on May 21, surveillance videos show a man throwing rocks to break the glass exterior door of JCPenney at the Westfield Wheaton Mall.

Police say the man went to the jewelry department and smashed the glass of two jewelry display cases. Investigators say videos show the man was in and out of the store in seven minutes.

Officers say the burglary was reported about 8:45 a.m. that day when an employee arrived to open the store.
