Garbage collectors refuse to take trash away because bins are facing wrong direction

Garbage collectors are refusing to collect trash from an apartment complex in England after saying the garbage cans are facing the wrong direction. The complex of about 200 homes is in the Victoria Dock area of the city of Kingston upon Hull.

Garbage collectors say it is all about safety. According to an online report in Express, workers say that when the bins are situated with the handles facing inwards workers must put their hands under the bins and risk being cut.

Apartment owners say their trash areas are not large enough to allow them to turn the trash bins around so that the bins face outwards.

Solutions include either modifying the garbage areas to allow the garbage bins to be rotated or to hire a private trash service.

The apartments are privately owned, so the owners will be responsible for all costs.

City leaders say they will continue to discuss the issue.
