SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) — Authorities in Maryland say a contract dump truck got stuck under an overpass along the Capital Beltway, causing backups on the inner loop.

Maryland State Highway Administration spokesman David Buck says the dump truck had its bed up too high and got stuck early Friday morning on Interstate-495 near Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.

One right lane remains closed, but transportation officials warn that major delays are expected to continue through the afternoon as crews clear spilled salt and the truck itself.

Bridge inspectors determined there was no structural damage to the Linden Avenue overpass, which was struck by the truck.
