Washington Nationals’ 2026 home opener forecast: Afternoon sunshine, highs near 80 degrees

A chilly, foggy start gives way to a warm, sunny Friday across the Washington, D.C. region, with highs climbing to around 80 degrees in time for the Nationals’ 2026 home opener.

What we know:

Expect morning temperatures in the 40s, says FOX 5’s Taylor Grenda. Conditions could feel colder because of the damp air, clouds and pockets of drizzle. Fog may reduce visibility through the morning commute, with a light mist that leaves roads and sidewalks feeling wet. Conditions begin to improve around midday as clouds break and sunshine returns.

Temperatures rise through the afternoon, reaching the upper 70s to mid‑80s. Fans heading to the ballpark can expect a warm‑up by early afternoon, with sunshine building between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and only a few lingering clouds.

Overnight conditions stay mild, and Saturday looks mainly dry with the potential for record highs as temperatures climb into the mid‑ to upper 80s. A stray shower threat is possible, but most areas remain dry.

Easter Sunday forecast

A better chance of rain arrives on Easter Sunday as a front moves through between midday and mid‑afternoon. Showers and a few storms are possible, Grenda says, but the system should move out quickly. Cooler air follows early next week, with highs dropping into the 60s Monday and the 50s by Tuesday and Wednesday.
