Storms passing through DC region produce golf ball-sized hail

WASHINGTON - The Washington D.C. area was hit with large hail as thunderstorms passed through Monday evening.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued for the majority of the D.C. region until 10 p.m. Monday. Several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were also issued in several counties in northern Virginia and Maryland throughout the night. A Tornado Warning was also issued for Charles County until 7:30 p.m.

Many local residents tweeted photos to FOX 5 showing golf ball-sized hail falling in their area.
