Haskins solid in first start, but Redskins lose at Buffalo

Adrian Peterson turned back the clock Sunday at Buffalo, but the Redskins still lost.

Rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins was solid in his first career start and running back Adrian Peterson turned back the clock (for a half), but the Redskins simply didn't make enough big plays in another losing effort Sunday, this time at Buffalo.

The final score was Bills 24, Redskins 9. The Redskins scored all of their points on field goals.

Haskins, a first-round draft pick, was unremarkable but far from a liability in his first career NFL start Sunday. He completed 68% of his passes for 144 yards and no interceptions, but he also didn't throw any touchdowns.

The Redskins have now gone 12 consecutive quarters without scoring a touchdown. That's the longest current streak in the NFL.

For the 11th time in his Hall of Fame career, Peterson rushed for more than 100 yards in a half. But he was largely quiet in the 2nd half as the Redskins tried to rally from behind.

The Redskins are now 1-8, and are surely focusing now on player improvement week-to-week instead of wins. They host the New York Jets next Sunday.

You can catch the game on Fox 5.
