Dwayne Haskins gets his first career start today. Are the Redskins ready?
WASHINGTON - Many Redskins fans are wondering if highly-touted rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins will be ready for his first career start Sunday in Buffalo.
But the better question is: are the Redskins ready?
Haskins was a Heisman finalist at Ohio State, but still only started 14 games throughout his college career.
He's had ups and downs in his brief appearances for the Burgundy and Gold so far this season, and the Redskins will have to protect him against one of the NFL's toughest defenses in Buffalo.
Meanwhile, the 1-7 Redskins have one of the worst offenses in the league.
Look for Head Coach Bill Callahan to establish the run early to lessen the pressure on Haskins and hopefully open up the offense. But since Buffalo will likely look for Callahan to do that, it will be even more important for the offensive line to play together and stay competitive in the trenches.
The game kicks off at 1 p.m. Sunday on Fox 5.
