VIDEO: 2 suspects steal safe, cash register from Mexican restaurant in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - New surveillance video shows two suspects breaking into a Woodbridge restaurant last week. Police say they took off with a safe and a cash register that then turned up at a nearby construction site on the same day.

The burglary happened at the El Molcajete Moya restaurant on Jefferson Davis Highway at around 3:32 a.m. on Dec. 14.

The suspects used a rock or a hard object to shatter the front glass door to make their way inside the restaurant. They were in and out of the business in just a few minutes, according to the restaurant's manager.

The safe and cash register were found several hours later dumped at a nearby construction site in the 16700 block of Mill Station Way in Dumfries. But all of the money was gone.

"Odds are they probably broke into the business, took the items and then carried them off some place to where they tried to get into them and were successful," said Prince William County Police Sgt. Jonathan Perok.

We are told there was no surveillance video from the construction site where the safe and the cash register were recovered, so police only have images from the restaurant.

The family-owned Mexican restaurant said this is the first time they have been robbed in the three years they have been at this location.

Both suspects were described as Hispanic males with muscular builds last seen wearing a black mask, black hoodie, black sweatpants, dark shoes and gloves. One is believed to be 6' tall and 190 pounds while the other is described as about 5'7" and 170 pounds.
