Surveillance video, composite sketch released of Woodbridge sexual assault suspect

Prince William County police are searching for a suspect who assaulted a woman at knifepoint on a short trail that cuts through two neighborhoods in Woodbridge.

Police said it happened Monday at around 11:30 p.m. between Aurora Drive and Bowes Lane.

Investigators have released a composite sketch of the suspect, which is extremely detailed thanks to new facial imaging software Prince William County police are using called E-FIT.

The victim described the suspect as a white male with a tan complexion between 19 and 20 years old. He is 5-feet-5 to 5-feet-7 inches tall and weighs between 130 to 140 pounds with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt and brown or tan cargo shorts.

She said he was armed with a knife and forced her to perform a sexual act on him once they were in the woods before he took off on foot.

The 33-year-old woman was heading home when she was targeted. Many people use the trail to travel between the neighborhood on Aurora Drive and the townhomes along Bowes Lane.

Just beyond that street is a large shopping center. Two of the businesses there captured surveillance video of the suspect.

Investigators are hoping someone recognizes the suspect and said there will be an increased police presence until he is caught.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Prince William County police at 703-792-6500.
