SOUND OFF: Do you teach your kids to fight back against bullies?
WASHINGTON - Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell play the roles of a father and a step-father in the new film "Daddy's Home." A scene in the movie where their child comes home after being bullied sparked a debate on the issue of bullying.
FOX 5's Kevin McCarthy asked Good Day DC anchors, "If your child is being bullied, do you teach them to fight back or not?"
"I think if you do stand up to that person, you can get a little bit more respect," said Steve Chenevey. "The people that are doing the bullying are looking for targets of weakness."
Holly Morris said, "You gotta learn how to fight back. You gotta hold your own and then people will leave you alone."
"I don't like physical violence. I've never been in a fight in my life. That would be the last resort, but if it keeps happening - you have to stand up for yourself," said Allison Seymour.
In a video posted to Facebook, McCarthy shared how he dealt with bullying when he was in high school and how he would have handled things differently.
