Metro planning emergency drill at Stadium-Armory station
WASHINGTON - Metro officials say they'll be conducting an emergency drill at the Stadium-Armory station this weekend.
Metro says officials will conduct the drill on Sunday from about 7:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. and that police, fire and emergency services will be involved.
The emergency drill will simulate smoke and a fire in the tunnel outside the Stadium-Armory station. Officials say the Stadium-Armory and Potomac Avenue stations are closed this weekend with buses replacing trains between Eastern Market and Cheverly on the orange line and between Eastern Market and Benning Road on the blue and silver lines.
Earlier this year, one person died when an electrical malfunction caused a Metro train to fill with smoke inside a tunnel. That happened near the yellow line's L'Enfant Plaza station.
