Delta offers $200 travel vouchers, refunds to customers affected by power outage

It was a rough day for Delta Air Lines passengers as more than 740 flights were canceled and 2,400 flights delayed after a power outage in Atlanta caused the airline's computer system to go out worldwide.

For customers who encountered a delay of three or more hours or had their flight canceled, Delta is providing a $200 travel voucher for future travel along with an apology for the travel troubles. Customers may also be entitled to a refund.

"We know that travelers value our commitment to excellent operational performance, and today we did not deliver on that commitment," said Gil West, Delta's Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, in a post on the airline's website. "We want our customers to know we are thoroughly investigating the matter and that we are truly sorry."

Customers who have provided an email to Delta will be contacted by the airline to receive their voucher in seven to 10 business days. If customers have not been contacted, they can complete a Customer Care form on www.delta.com/wecare to receive their voucher.

Delta says use of the travel voucher must be booked by next year on August 8.
