Chess grandmaster faces ban after being caught cheating in bathroom

A Georgian chess champion is facing a career checkmate after his frequent trips to the bathroom at an international tournament in Dubai aroused the suspicions of his opponent, who then notified event organizers, reports say.

Grandmaster Gaioz Nigalidze was tossed out of the Dubai Open on Sunday after his opponent in a Saturday match, Armenian Grandmaster Tigran Petrosian, noticed a pattern in Nigalidze's departures to the bathroom, the New York Post reported, quoting the Daily Telegraph.

"Nigalidze would promptly reply to my moves and then literally run to the toilet," Petrosian said following the match, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Petrosian said that Nigalidze would also visit the same toilet stall on each trip.
