2 charged in murder of Fairfax County classroom assistant
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - Two D.C. men are facing murder charges in connection with the death of a Fairfax County Public Schools classroom assistant in 2016.
On Thursday, police announced that they'd arrested 19-year-old Tre'Sur Hawkins on a charge of first-degree murder, and that 24-year-old Charles Benson had been in custody since September 2018 for the killing of Tarreece Sampson.
They say the information on Benson's arrest had been withheld in order to "maintain the integrity of the investigation."
Investigators say Sampson did not know his killers, and that he'd randomly encountered them breaking into cars on Richmond Highway.
Sampson worked at Fort Hunt Elementary School in Alexandria and had a side business as a graphic designer.
