Snow, sleet and rain impact DC region Sunday evening

WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - A wintry mix blasted the DC region on Sunday with some areas to the west seeing sizable snow totals while others saw hardly any accumulation.

Temperatures to the north and northwest of the DC Metro were cold enough to support mostly snow, while areas south of DC saw a mix consisting of mostly rain.

The greatest snowfall totals will be north and northwest of the city where they saw between 2 to 6 inches by the end of Sunday evening.

The snow will start to cut off by midnight as temperatures drop down to freezing and below, which is expected to create slippery spots on the roads Monday morning.

Monday looks dry with sunshine and gusty winds up to 25 mph from the northwest and high temperatures will only reach up into the upper 30s.

The rest of the work week looks very cold and well below normal on most days as high temperatures are currently forecasted in the mid-to-upper 30s for most the week.
