Farmers' Almanac predicts above-average heat this summer for DC region

Get ready for the heat, D.C.! Summer 2018 is expected to be warmer than usual for most of the country, including the nation's capital.

According to the latest Farmers' Almanac long-range forecast, the middle and western regions of the U.S. will see the hottest temperatures this summer. Parts of the country in the northeast's Zone 1, which includes Maryland and D.C., should expect their average temperatures to be hotter than most years. Zone 3, which includes Virginia and other southeast states, should be ready for the triple Hs! Hazy, hot and humid! The Almanac says that traditional outdoor activities may be better left until autumn in those parts of the region.

The periodical, which is in its 200th year, is also calling for above-average precipitation in the South Central regions of the country this summer due mainly to heavy thunderstorms. Zone 1 states can expect below normal precipitation, which may even lead to drought conditions.
