Falling temperatures could cause refreeze overnight
WASHINGTON - The D.C. region received a mix of rain and snow as a winter storm passed through our area on Tuesday.
The majority of the snow that accumulated on the ground came in Maryland with areas receiving as much as 4 to 6 inches. However, in Washington D.C. itself, there was only trace accumulation reported at Reagan National Airport.
However, a major concern for Tuesday night and overnight into Wednesday are the subfreezing temperatures expected that could cause refreezing and icy spots on the ground.
On Wednesday, we could see a passing flurry along with partly sunny weather as temperatures will only reach the upper 30s. It will be a bit windy with winds between 10 to 20 miles per hour.
Arctic air will be arriving this weekend as brutally cold temperatures could drop into the teens and 20s in the area.
For the next batch of precipitation, there is a chance of rain and snow late Monday afternoon and evening next week. The FOX 5 Weather Team will continue to track that possible storm.
