Monday brings threat for next wintry mess to DC region
As we told you about in an article released yesterday, we are currently in the midst of a pretty active storm pattern in mid-December. That does not mean every storm that comes our way will bring the threat of winter weather. Some, like Friday and Saturday, will just be plain old rain. Monday though brings a very interesting setup to our region and one that does have the potential to leave some accumulating sleet and snow.

Active storm pattern persists through middle of December
The first measurable snow event for the season wrapped up early Wednesday morning across parts of our region. Generally speaking the forecast was well done. From the snowfall totals that have rolled in so far, nobody is coming in with any surprise numbers in the higher direction. The bulk of the accumulation has been on the grass, and now that snow has stopped falling, and with sunshine and above freezing temperatures expected this afternoon, what little fell will most likely be completely gone by this afternoon.

Snow flurries move out; slick roadways, school delays Wednesday morning

Rain, snow mix overnight makes for slippery Wednesday morning commute
Overnight, the cold air arrived changing rain showers over to snow showers across the D.C. region. While this isn't a lot of snow -- and some saw little if any accumulation -- it is the first coating for most of us this season so be ready for a few delays and slick spots on the roads.
