Dan Snyder 'hates' the Commanders' recent success: report
Bars seeing boost to business from Commanders hype
The Commanders are in the NFC Championship, and with the hometown team winning, DC bars are winning too.
WASHINGTON - The Washington Commanders are headed to the NFC Championship game this Sunday, the team's first since 1992. And the team's former owner is apparently unhappy.
What they're saying:
Former Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder reportedly shared his feeling about the Commanders' recent success at a dinner in London in the fall, according to ESPN's Seth Wickersham and Don Van Natta Jr.
"He f--king hates it," a source revealed to ESPN.
The backstory:
Snyder sold the Commanders to a group led by Josh Harris that included Magic Johnson in July 2023 for $6.05 billion. He had owned the team since 1999.
The Commanders struggled on-field during Snyder's ownership, making the playoffs just six times in 24 years. They had the sixth-worst record in the NFL from 1999 to 2022.
The 2023 sale came after years of controversy surrounding Snyder and his ownership of the team, including allegations of sexual and workplace misconduct. The NFL investigated the Commanders, fining the team $10 million after finding the workplace culture to be "highly unprofessional."
Reports: Dan Snyder agrees to $6.05 billion deal to sell Commanders
According to sources, an agreement has been reached between Dan Snyder and the group led by Josh Harris to sell the Commanders for $6.05 billion. FOX 5's Josh Rosenthal spoke to fans who heard the news and are, well, overjoyed.
The team's turnaround in 2024 is the result of a complete organizational overhaul that began when controlling owner Josh Harris’ group bought the team from Snyder and then hired new general manager Adam Peters and coach Dan Quinn.
