White House fence to be measured for security features designed to deter fence jumpers

Work is about to get underway to improve security around the White House.

The National Park Service and the Secret Service will begin working with contractors Thursday to verify measurements of the fence around the executive mansion.

In July, they will add an anti-climb feature on the top of the fence.

The new device will have sharp metal points designed to deter fence jumpers.

The anti-climb feature is only temporary until a permanent fence solution is approved.
