Virginia Tax-Free Weekend qualifying items

VIRGINIA - Get your shopping list ready, this Friday is the start of Virginia's Tax-Free Weekend.

Beginning Friday, August 4, people shopping in the Commonwealth can purchase certain items without paying taxes. The Tax-Free Weekend ends at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 6.

But not everything is tax-free.

The Virginia Tax website lists out all eligible items, which include:

School supplies - $20 or less per item

Clothing and footwear - $100 or less per item

Portable generators - $1,000 or less per item

Gas-powered chainsaws - $350 or less per item

Chainsaw accessories - $60 or less per item

Other specified hurricane preparedness items - $60 or less per item
