Two charged with passing counterfeit currency in Virginia
TYSONS CORNER, Va. - Two men are charged with passing counterfeit U.S. currency, according to Fairfax County police.
The Tysons Urban Team and the Christmas Anti-Theft Team began an investigation on Wednesday after Macy's Loss Prevention reported a suspect in the Tysons Corner store allegedly trying to use the fake $100 bills.
Responding officers watched the suspect enter a vehicle driven by another man, and they stopped the vehicle. Authorities said they found more counterfeit money and stolen merchandise in the car.
Nathaniel Thompson, 35, and Byron Lee Giles, 35, both of Brooklyn, New York, were charged with possession of counterfeit bills, uttering false notes and larceny by false pretense.
The suspects, who were wanted for crimes in other states, are being held without bond.
