Son beat father to death with baseball bat, police say

A Lanham man faces charges after police he murdered his father with a baseball bat.

42-year-old Montey Anthony was arrested in connection with the murder of his father, 64-year-old Kenneth Williams, Saturday night in Lanham.

Police say Anthony was at the house he shared with Williams on the 8000 block of Greenfield Drive and assaulted his father with a baseball bat during an argument.

Residents in the area say Williams was a granddad, a retired postal worker, and a man they affectionately knew as 'Pops.' "He's very friendly, talked to all the neighbors, and was concerned about what's going on in the neighborhood," said Kerry Joseph, a neighbor. "He never bothered anybody, never caused any trouble. Everybody loved Kenny. He was just a nice guy."

Anthony was charged with first and second degree murder and also faces assault charges. Police say he admitted his involvement.
