Shelter lets you borrow a dog for a few hours - but be careful - you might want to keep them furever

The Human Rescue Alliance's 'happy hour' program lets you borrow a dog for a few hours!

Designed to give the pups a break from shelter life, the program is intended to lower their stress levels and improve their overall well-being. The mission is to evaluate how the short outings affect dogs.

According to the Washingtonian, this specialized foster program was launched in February. Rather than fostering dogs for extended stays-- which can be days, weeks and months-- it allows volunteers to provide dogs with a safe space, even if it's just for a couple hours.

Volunteers are trained prior to borrowing a dog, then they pick a four-legged friend from a preapproved list and off they go-- of course, they must return the pups after.
