Prince William County police warning about Medicare scammers
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Prince William County police are warning people about scam callers masquerading as Medicare representatives.
According to police, the callers are spoofing their number to make the call look legitimate. If you see 1-800 Medicare (1-800-633-4227), exercise caution.
Police say the Virginia Senior Medicare Patrol has received complaints from several beneficiaries who gave their Medicare number to the scammers.
Some of the beneficiaries gave up their height and weight, which police believe may mean the scammers are using the information to order durable medical equipment.
