Prince George's County woman chased kid with knife before barricade situation, police say
LAUREL, Md. - A Prince George's County woman chased a child with a knife before a five-hour standoff with authorities on Friday, according to officials.
The Laurel Police Department said they responded to a home in the 14700 block of Philip Court in Laurel at about 9:40 a.m.
When officers arrived they learned a 24-year-old woman, identified as Rosby Taylor of Beltsville, was accused of chasing a juvenile around the home with a knife.
The juvenile and other family members were able to escape the home without injury, according to police.
Authorities attempted to make entry to the home but found the front door barricaded and the front windows covered. Officers in tactical gear and an armored vehicle were called to the scene and a five-hour standoff ensued. Four nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.
Police eventually entered the home and were able to take Taylor into custody without incident. She was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Taylor faces one count of first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault.
