Photos taken on train show how long Metro passengers waited for rescue

Timestamps on smartphone photos from a rider who was trapped on the Metro train near L'Enfant Plaza on Monday detail the amount of time it took for the stranded passengers to be rescued.

Jonathan Rogers first told his story to FOX 5's Bob Barnard on Tuesday. In that interview, he detailed what it was like to be stuck on the train, which filled with smoke while in the tunnel near the L'Enfant Plaza station. He also described how he tried to help save a woman who eventually passed away as a result of the incident.

On Wednesday night, Rogers tweeted a series of photos he took with his smartphone while waiting to be rescued from the train. The photos' properties are also shown -- including the exact times each picture was taken. Rogers tweeted a photo he took when the smoke first began entering the train, with a timestamp of 3:20 p.m. The last photo he tweeted was taken when he and the other passengers were being walked through the tunnel toward the station-- at 4:22 p.m. One hour and two minutes passed from the time Rogers took the first photo to the time he took the last one.
