Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Wheaton

WHEATON, Md. - A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at an intersection in Wheaton early Monday morning. The incident was reported around 5:30 a.m. near University Boulevard West and Amherst Avenue.

Westbound University Boulevard West was closed as were the northbound lanes of Amherst Avenue. All lanes were reopened around 6:30 a.m.

Police say the victim is a man and is expected to survive. Officers are still investigating the cause.
