Naval medic arrested, suspected of stabbing man found dead in Northwest D.C. apartment complex

A Naval medic was arrested on Sunday, officials say, suspected of stabbing a D.C. man to death at a Northwest apartment complex Sunday morning.

Marine Corps Base Quantico spokesman confirms 23-year-old Collin J. Potter, of Quantico, Va. was arrested on charges of first-degree murder. Potter is a corpsman, a role similar to a medic, assigned to the base at Quantico.

Investigators say Potter stabbed the man, found dead at a Northwest D.C. apartment complex, Sunday morning.

Police say they were called to the 2800 block of Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest just after 4 a.m., where they found 36 year-old Vongell Lugo in the hallway suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Officials say Lugo's body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police say Potter was arrested and charged with first-degree murder while armed.
