National Park Week begins Saturday, and that means you can get into any national park for free

There are more than 400 national parks across the country, and 127 of those charge an admission fee, according to the U.S. National Park Service. During the annual National Park Week, which falls between April 16 and 24, all entrance fees are waived with the help of the National Park Foundation.

With dozens of national parks in the DMV alone, you better start planning! That means trips to Great Falls, Manassas and Antietam battlefield parks and Fort McHenry. Find the park closest to you with this handy map. Children can earn a junior ranger badge and take part in kids' programs on Saturday, National Junior Ranger Day. Volunteers are welcome to help out in the parks on Earth Day, April 22.

Events throughout National Park Week include Earth Day (April 22), a National Park Instameet (April 23) and more. Find more info about National Park Week events and locations online here.
