Maryland state workers getting day off on Christmas Eve
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Maryland state workers will be getting the day off on Christmas Eve, the governor announced.
Gov. Larry Hogan declared on Thursday that state government agencies and offices will be closed on Dec. 24.
"Since this year Christmas falls on Tuesday and is a state holiday, I am also declaring this Christmas Eve as a holiday so that our hard-working employees can spend more time enjoying the holidays with their loved ones," said Hogan. "This is just another way we can show our appreciation to our dedicated state workers."
Earlier this week, President Donald Trump issued an executive order excusing federal workers from duty on Christmas Eve.
