Maryland couple arrested, accused of murder-for-hire plot
GAITHERSBURG, Md. - A Maryland couple has been arrested, suspected for their involvement in a murder-for-hire scheme, Montgomery County police say.
Investigators say 44-year-old Karen Diolamou and her boyfriend, 44-year-old Paul Bond, have been charged with conspiring to hire a person to kill a witness to the home invasion robbery committed by Bond.
Bond is currently in the custody of the Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation and awaiting trial, suspected of committing a home invasion robbery in April in Gaithersburg.
Investigators say found Diolamou contacted a person known to her and Bond, and stated to them that Bond wanted to find someone who would kill the witness to the home invasion robbery.
Diolamou allegedly offered this person an undisclosed amount of money to kill the witness, and even went into detail about what manner she wanted the witness to be killed, police say.
They say she reportedly provided the person with the witness' name, home address, as well as a description of the witness' car.
After this conversation, the person went and notified Montgomery County police about the solicitation.
Investigators say they went through documented communication between Diolamou and this person, as well as documented communication between Diolamou and Bond and found they provided evidence of their murder-for-hire plot.
Diolamou was arrested at her home in Silver Spring, officials say and charged her with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and solicitation to commit first-degree murder. Police say she confessed to her involvement in an interview with police detectives. She is being held without bond.
Paul Bond, who is already in jail, facing charges for the home invasion robbery, has now also been charged with conspiracy and solicitation to commit first- degree murder.
