Man threatening suicide climbed bell tower of National Cathedral

WASHINGTON - Tense moments after a man threatening suicide climbed up the bell tower of the National Cathedral overnight. Police say the man went up the scaffolding that's on the outside of the structure just after midnight.

Investigators say he stayed up there for two and a half hours before safely coming down at around 2:45 a.m.

The man was hospitalized.
