Local rapper killed in Northwest DC apartment shooting, teen girl injured

A local rapper was shot and killed, and a teenage girl was injured in a shooting at an apartment in Northwest D.C. Wednesday night, and now police are searching for suspects.

What we know:

Adrian Hawkins, 20, was found shot in the hallway of an apartment building on Banner Lane NW on Wednesday, according to police. Hawkins was known in the local rap community as TrapHard Swagg.

Police were called out to the building around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. When they got there, they found Hawkins in the sixth floor hallway, unresponsive and not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A teenage girl was found in another part of the building with a graze wound on her shoulder. She was taken to a hospital, treated and later released. 

What we don't know:

Homicide detectives are searching for the suspected shooter.

Anyone with information is urged to call 202‑727‑9099 or text 50411. There is a reward of up to $25,000 available for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
