LIST: New laws for DC region in 2016

WASHINGTON - A New Year means new resolutions, new beginnings and new laws in Virginia, Maryland and the District. Here is a rundown of some of the new laws for 2016:

VIRGINIA: Student photo ID cards issued by Virginia private schools will be added to the list of acceptable forms of identification for voters.

MARYLAND: Health insurance providers in the state must cover at least two brand name abuse-deterrent opioid painkillers, aimed at lowering the likelihood of abuse.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY: You can no longer smoke e-cigarettes in public buildings with the exception of the upcoming MGM casino.

Also in Prince George's County, fines for littering in the county will double from $500 to $1,000.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY AND WASHINGTON, DC: Businesses can no longer serve food in expanded polystyrene, which is commonly referred to as Styrofoam.
