FOX Beat: Hugh Jackman plays 'Blackbeard' in new film, 'Pan'
Hugh Jackman took on his latest role head-on! He shaved his head bald to play his newest character 'Blackbeard,' in the new film, 'Pan.'
Jackman sat down with FOX 5's Kevin McCarthy to talk about the character - starting with the choice of 'Blackbeard's' entrance music - The Ramone's and Nirvana! Some executives were scratching their heads with those decisions, Jackman said, but the end result worked great.
The sets, said Jackman, were amazing. "Neverland itself was the size of a football field, you could get lost in there - it was extraordinary. And the boats were full sized and all on this gimbal that could tilt at 30 degree angles -up, back, side - and fast! It was the greatest thrill ride you've ever been on."
And why did he shave his head rather than wear a bald cap? The 45-minutes of makeup the bald cap required each day! Plus, he said, his wife loved the look.
