The moment doctors told Kelvin that he had cancer - his world stopped. He was confused, upset and not sure what to do next.

"I remember just lying there - thinking 'how is this happening?' You know, what do I do?" Kelvin asked himself.

A pain in his back turned into a devastating diagnosis. Kelvin learned he had Multiple Myeloma - a cancer formed by malignant plasma cells. When plasma cells becomes cancerous they can produce a tumor, the tumors often develop in the bone.

"You know, I wanted to be strong, because I had my family coming up and I didn't want my daughter to see the break downs - I didn't want my wife to see the break downs. It was a lot of nights where I would just break down and just be in the room crying my eyes out, wondering - why me?"

Kelvin, 41, is a husband to his wife Marcia and a father to two children. It was a heart breaking task having to tell his young daughter that he had cancer, he didn't want her to think that her "daddy was dying," Kelvin said.

Now - we're happy to say - Kelvin is in remission. But he still has a long road to recovery.
