The D.C. region has bragging rights for being the fittest of the fifty largest metropolitan areas in the U.S.
D.C. topped the American Fitness Index list in part because of its access to parks and paths for jogging, walking and biking.
Minneapolis came in second followed by San Diego, San Francisco and Sacramento.
Baltimore was nineteenth.
Indianapolis has the dubious distinction of being the least fit.
The rankings are based on outdoor exercise options and rates of smoking, obesity and diabetes.
